Hello Adaku! Can you tell us a bit about you and Dovetailed?

I started the business shortly after becoming a new mum. I had been thinking about other areas of work besides the Criminal Bar that might better fit around the time constraints that come with having a young family.  

I had seen the 2016 Sewing Bee. In all honesty, I didn’t really understand what they were talking about, but nonetheless, I was intrigued. About a month later, I saw an advert for classes in Textiles at my local Adult Learning Centre so I signed up.

I took classes in pattern cutting, clothes making, tailoring, African fashion, decorative techniques, and more. I was completely hooked. Soon, I was making clothes and bags which I sold to friends and at small pop-ups. Later, I began selling African wax print fabric.
