Hello Caroline! Can you tell us a bit about you and Blackbird Fabrics?

I grew up in Montreal, Quebec, but moved to the west coast for a job in textiles! While working in the fashion/textile industry throughout my early twenties, I fell in love with the home sewing world and decided that I wanted to start a business serving that community.

Selling fabrics online made a lot of sense at the time because there wasn’t really anyone doing it the way I wanted to do it! I am now six years into this business, and have gone from a one-woman operation in my two bedroom apartment, to a 6,200 square foot warehouse with over a dozen employees. My vision has always been to curate garment fabrics for the home sewist. Now we just do it on a much larger scale! Right now we are working hard to source more sustainable textiles that are traceable through as much of the supply chain as possible.
