Hello Lauren. Can you tell us a bit about you and your shop?

“I’m an illustrator, surface pattern designer, and sewist. I’ve created artwork for publishing projects and for my own fabric designs for over 15 years, working from my home on the Mid North Coast NSW Australia. I grew up in this area and still draw a lot of inspiration from the natural beauty of the area and my love of animals when creating my designs. I’ve also been working part time as a vet nurse for almost 20 years (you know, in my spare time…).

Most of my work these days is in creating custom fabric designs for small businesses like my own. I add designs to my portfolio on Spoonflower and other digital fabric printers (in Australia) and manage my portfolio, filling requests for specific designs from customers.

There was a time when I sewed hundreds of custom orders each year of nursery linens like cot sheets and quilts for kids and babies. My business doesn’t involve as much sewing for customers anymore so I’ve had more time lately to focus on sewing my own wardrobe (which has been incredibly liberating and creatively satisfying).”
