5 Sewing Gifts You Might Not Have Thought Of

Pattern cutting courses from Erbaccia Studio, Project Patterns, and Charlotta Pattern Cutting School

I absolutely love pattern cutting courses. I’ve taken a couple in person, and love tuning in to those shared on YouTube and Instagram by Kate and Charlotta. They’re really clearly explained, and you can tell they love it. Their tutorials focus on pattern cutting on paper, which is great when you want a bit of time off screen. Victoria at Erbaccia studio offers classes on digital pattern cutting using Adobe Illustrator. I’ve signed up for the free version and her teaching seems really great too.

A ticket to a fashion exhibition, or membership to a museum

If you live in or near a city with museums, membership or exhibition tickets can be a great option. The V&A in London has loads of fashion exhibitions on during the year. I absolutely adored the Dior exhibition. The Fashion and Textile museum is another favourite among sewists.

A projector

Projector sewing has really taken off in recent years, with lots of indie pattern designers offering projector files. There’s a fantastic resource called Projector Sewing to help you get started. They cover almost anything you can think of on the topic, including advice on choosing a projector, projector reviews, and how to set it up. There are also few things better than a projector film night, complete with popcorn, if you ask me.
