Hello Morgan, can you tell us a bit about you and Thread Theory?

Matt and I, a husband and wife team, began the dream of launching a menswear sewing pattern company seven years ago after I became an avid sewer and hoped to sew clothing for Matt… only to find very few patterns that suited him!

We were on a year-long adventure on the east coast of Canada and were trying to live a frugal and simple life. I sewed him button-up shirts from thrift store sheets but really wanted to sew t-shirts, Henleys, jeans and sweaters that he was more likely to wear in his daily life as a university student at the time. To this day, our mission is to bring menswear sewing to the forefront and to provide the tools, inspiration and patterns to make sewing quality menswear possible for sewists!

Can you tell us a bit about the Lazo trousers?

When I created my designs I had British wartime fashion in mind. During the second world war women’s fashion made an abrupt departure from delicate materials and confining silhouettes – instead, sturdy wools and canvas were used as this is what was available and practical at the time. Silhouettes emphasized comfort and practicality while also flattering the figure. I wanted my garments to replicate this approach to fashion.
