Hello Kristine and Manisha! Can you tell us a bit about you and Loom and Stars?

Kristine: I’ve made most of my clothes for the last 25 years, but have found it increasingly difficult to buy interesting natural fiber fabric for garment sewing. My perspective changed when I met my sister-in-law, Manisha, a kindred spirit.

Visiting India exposed me to a whole new world of inspiration in Indian textile and craft traditions which, until then, I had only read about in books. Both Manisha and I love these fabrics and we wanted to help keep the traditions alive, but we couldn’t support an industry by binge-shopping, much as we might enjoy it!

We thought that surely other sewers in the world would love these fabrics, too — fabrics that they could care about, fabrics that tell a story. So we started the shop, and here we are!
