Hello Sonja! Can you tell us a bit about you and Hell Gate Fabrics?

Hell Gate Fabrics grew out of a desire to provide beautiful garment fabrics that are better for the earth and for people. I wanted to fill my shop with fabrics produced in places with better working conditions and environmental standards, and fibers that won’t still be in a landfill 300 years from now.

I get a huge kick out of seeing customers making beautiful garments out of fabric from my store. I feel so happy and proud every time I see one! I’m a one-woman show, and it’s a side gig for me, so it’s a lot of work, but I’m so passionate about textiles that it’s definitely worth all the time and effort.
