Hello Sandra and Ping! Can you tell us a bit about Fig and Needle?

Sandra started sewing in secondary school, but didn’t pick up sewing as a serious hobby until after university. Ping desperately wanted an Arwen costume at 15, and spent hours sewing crooked lines to piece it together, eventually learning to sew properly and discovering indie patterns. And straight lines. We both started fashion school the same year to learn pattern drafting, and found that we get along and collaborate extremely well.

With Fig + Needle, we prioritized an extended size range (0-26) and larger bust sizes (D/DD cups), instead of the B cup industry standard. We’d like to expand our cup sizing options in the future but, for now, we’re excited to provide our patterns as a starting point for fuller busts, to make size alterations easier. We want people to feel good in their clothes, and that starts by getting the right fit.
