Hello Athina! Can you tell us a bit about you and Athina Kakou Patterns?

Sewing has always been a part of my life as both of my great-grandmas and my grandma are seamstresses. I was exposed to it from a very young age but only got into proper dressmaking a few years ago.

My pattern company started as a desire to create more size-inclusive patterns. I believe that sewing is a way to see yourself and your body in a completely different way. It helps you realize that size is only a number, that we are all unique, different but beautiful. Through my work, I want to highlight inclusivity in every aspect because I believe that every woman is beautiful, no matter what her size, shape, age, heritage or personal style is.

Can you tell us a bit about the Adriana Skirt?

A half-pleated skirt with two variations: one for a simple waistband and one for a paperbag waist. For me, the Adriana is the epitome of style and femininity. Very classic design, with the pleats to one side adding a unique touch and making it stand out from other pleated skirts.
